Oh La La! Macarons
2023 redesign + two years of site management
Visit live site →A Shopify redesign for a luxury macaron brand in London. 26% conversion rate increase and 80% total sales increase, followed by two years of ongoing site management.
Context
Oh La La! Macarons is a luxury macaron brand based in Fulham, London, serving direct-to-consumer customers and B2B clients across the UK. They needed a Shopify redesign that elevated the brand presence to match the product, supported a complex mix-and-match ordering system, and built infrastructure for ongoing corporate gifting and event programs.
Challenge
Shopify ships with strong defaults but they’re shaped for a generic e-commerce buyer. A luxury food brand needs the visual restraint of a fashion site combined with the ordering flexibility of a customizable goods site. The mix-and-match flow had to feel effortless rather than fiddly, and the brand had to read as premium across every touchpoint, from the home page hero through checkout.
Approach
I redesigned the storefront on Shopify with custom theme work: a mix-and-match builder that surfaces flavors without overwhelming, refined product photography presentation, and dedicated surfaces for corporate gifting, team building, and event programs (hen parties, weddings). Pantone-matched branding is supported throughout the site so corporate clients can order macarons that match their brand colors exactly. Post-launch, I stayed on for nearly two years of ongoing management for collection updates, seasonal campaigns, conversion experiments, and the inevitable Shopify ecosystem maintenance that any active store needs.

The redesign also became the foundation for a growing B2B program, with corporate gifting and event programs as major revenue streams.
Reflection
“A redesign that converts is a starting point, not a finish line. The next two years of iteration are where the compounding gains come from: collection rotations, seasonal campaigns, the boring discipline of keeping a fast site fast.”
